Environmental Policy

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY POLICY


The management and staff of Superhire recognise that our operations have an effect on local, regional and global environment and take the impact we can make very seriously. We are committed to providing continuous improvements in our environmental performance and the prevention of pollution. We also wish to increase our corporate social responsibility by supporting the development of best practice that delivers sustainable growth whilst continually improving environmental standards. Our purchasing department will seek products and services of local origin and that are environmentally friendly. Superhire maintain that a part of its environmental strategy is sustainable waste management and we recognise our responsibility to recycle materials where possible, we will minimise waste and dispose through safe and responsible methods. Environmental laws and regulations will be regarded as setting the minimum standards of environmental performance.

Policy Aims

To have registration and compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, we will endeavour to:

• Comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements.

• Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.

• Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.

• Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.

• Increase employee awareness and training.

• Avoid unnecessary printing and digitise all correspondence and filing systems, where it is possible.


Paper

• We will minimise the use of paper in the office.

• We will reduce packaging as much as possible.

• We will reuse and recycle all paper where possible.

• We will seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products.


Energy and Water

• We aim to purchase 100% renewable electricity and 100% green gas at all our sites.

• We will seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.

• Lights and electrical equipment will be switched off when not in use.

• Heating will be adjusted with energy consumption in mind.

• The energy consumption and efficiency of new products will be taken into account when purchasing.

• Particular attention has been paid to such features as lighting, heating/air circulation, water usage and recovery and recycling.


Solar Panels

• We have installed Solar panels covering 50% of the roof of the building and will look to add to these with more panels.


Office Supplies

• We will evaluate if the need can be met in another way.

• We will evaluate if renting/sharing is an option before purchasing equipment.

• We will evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.

• We will seek to buy more environmentally friendly and efficient products.

• We will reuse and recycle everything we are able to do.


Transportation

• We will promote a ‘cycle to work’ scheme, to facilitate tax-efficient purchases of bikes as a salary sacrifice process.

• We will reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessity trips only.

• We will promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing.

• We will make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport or bicycles.

• Our directors pledge to use EV vehicles.

• As a company, we do not currently own any vehicles and plan to remain vehicle free.

• All cars used by staff to attend work are required to be at least ULEZ compliant.


Maintenance and Cleaning

• To continue to reduce all non-recyclable waste where possible and to dispose of responsibly, avoiding where possible, from being sent to landfill.

• We will only use licenced and appropriate organisations to dispose of waste.

• We have installed air-dryers in all toilets to eliminate paper towel waste.

• Cleaning materials will be as environmentally friendly as possible and we will phase out any products with CFCs and ozone depleting substances.


Monitoring and Improvement

• We will comply with and exceed all relevant regulatory requirements.

• We will continually improve and monitor environmental performance.

• We will increase employee awareness through training

• We will continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.

• We will incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.

• Materials used in office refurbishment will be as environmentally friendly as possible.


Wastage Policy

• Every individual has a personal responsibility to consider the wastage they are producing and to take active action to reduce it wherever possible.

• All members of staff are encouraged to adhere to the Wastage Policy.


Culture

• We endeavour to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible.

• We will involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.

• We will update this policy at least annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary.

• We will provide staff with relevant environmental training.

• We will work with supplier, contractors and sub-contractors to improve their environmental performance.

• We will use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 and help the community.

• We minimise the noise disturbance to neighbours by only allowing vehicles in at certain times.

• Our success will be determined on an annual basis with a commitment to improve.

• Whenever possible, we will aim to recruit as locally as possible.


Beehive

• We are currently in talks to have a Beehive installed to provide Bio-diversity.
